Wella Brazilian Illuminage with Wella Master Educator Stevie Smith

Stevie Smith discovered the art of hairdressing at the age of sixteen. She trained with top stylists in Atlanta for 9 years before moving to Chicago where she began working as a Stylist, Art Director, and Educator. She has worked with many of the industries leaders such as Wella, Toni & Guy, Bumble and Bumble, Vidal Sassoon, and ZGAT & Sharon Blain just to name a few.

Her Brazilian Illuminage Class focused on foil patterns and sectioning for maximum blonding impact. It’s a new take on balayage for those clients that want the light and bright without the maintenance. Our stylists worked in groups along side Stevie to personalize the technique to each individual models look. The results were so beautiful and we had so much fun getting there! We can’t wait to see what she brings us next!

We are excited to announce that we are now carrying Davines at Samuel Cole Salon! Davines is an international, family-owned beauty brand based out of Parma, Italy. Founded in 1993 by the Bollati Family. They had a vision to make sustainable haircare products. To be the best for the world, creators of good life for all, through beauty, ethics and sustainability. Starting in their garage, Davines was created as a combination of letters from siblings Davide and Stefania.


Davines’ philosophy is Sustainable Beauty. Two words, juxtaposed, carried so much importance that Davines wrote a manifesto about expressing ideals like “freedom of expression”, “multicultural curiosity”, “transparency” and “collaboration”.

The City of Raleigh has passed an Emergency Proclamation to announce the mandatory use of face coverings within the City. In compliance with the Proclamation, all employees and clients inside of Samuel Cole Salon must wear a mask.

Senior Designers Libby + Morgan Attend Celebrity Styling Academy Nine Zero One

Located in the heart of Los Angeles, trendsetting Nine Zero One Salon is the salon-home for dozens of celebrities and prides itself on creating “The Best You” and sharing their professional expertise in their prestigious 901 Academy.  Nine Zero One’s clientele includes Heidi Klum, Eva Longoria, Charlize Theron, Selena Gomez, Sarah Hyland, Justin Bieber, Julianne Hough, and Ashley Graham.

Stylists Libby + Morgan went to their Break It Up Tone It Down color class, which focused on creating richness in color, controlling warm tones, and color blending.  Their educator Tauni Dawson began her styling career assisting Riawna Capri to Hollywood clientele, on-location photoshoots and high-profile weddings.

Coby Alcantar and Tony Caldwell are two of Oribe’s most highly sought-after educators. Each own a salon, have editorial experience in Fashion Weeks around the world, and educate hundreds of stylists every year with Oribe’s Education Team.

Coby and Tony are the perfect team to co-host a class; playing off each other nicely creating a fantastic learning environment that empowers stylists to push their creative envelope. Coby demonstrated Oribe’s Signature haircut with a razor while Tony demonstrated the same haircut with shears, speaking to the value of each tool based on the model’s hair type and the stylist’s preference.

The Signature Cut is Oribe’s amazingly transitional haircut, so it’s perfect for anyone who wants to grow out their bangs, or who feels like their long hair “drags down their face.”  This cut creates strong, blended layers that frame the face while maintaining length overall.  The look has texture, movement, and softness.

I loved seeing how this haircut came to life with a razor and with shears – neither one is “right” or “wrong”. I especially appreciated the freedom Coby gives us in cutting, encouraging us to trust our visual instinct as artists.”
