Samuel Cole Salon stylists with gifts prepared for the Raleigh Rescue Mission

The Raleigh Rescue Mission was founded to minister to the growing needs of homeless and hurting men, women and children in our community. They have helped more than 750,000 people since being funded in 1961. The Raleigh Rescue Mission offers a long-term recovery program, emergency shelter, safe housing, clothing, and three healthy meals a day, as well as recovery, counseling, free medical care, job and computer training skills, and other support services to help them achieve their goals and ultimately make a successful transition back into the community.

Samuel Cole Salon made it their mission to contribute this holiday season. Employees pitched in and collected $700 for The Raleigh Rescue Mission. With the amount of money collected Samuel Cole was able to buy 23 much needed gifts; newborn and toddler clothing, rattles,  pacifiers, toys, bibles, sweaters, shirts, nightgowns, pajamas sets, robes, jeans, a Regal Movie Theater gift card and a Wal-Mart gift card.

It feels so good to have the salon come together for people in need. It was so rewarding to shop for all the presents”, said stylist and fundraising coordinator Cara Dempsey.

Co-owner of Samuel Cole Salon, Jack Ray and advanced stylist Cara Dempsey recently took part in the world renowned 2-day workshop, “Fierce Conversations” in New York City at the acclaimed Bb.U  in Manhattan. The workshop pushed attendees to expand their communication techniques to become more effective. The class focused on being authentic, speaking the truth and interrogating everyone’s reality in order to increase the likelihood of all relationships expanding and growing in positive ways.

One of my personal struggles has been staying in the moment. Fierce conversations has helped me to be here and prepare to be nowhere else. It has also helped me to release time wasters out of my life. Bumble and Bumble always brings inspiration in to my life and I can’t wait to back to NYC!”, said Dempsey.

Fierce Conversations was incredible! This was far more than a professional workshop. It was very impactful on a personal level as well”, said Ray.

Master Stylists Carolyn Nord and Nikki Galloni-Keply along with Samuel Cole Salon owner, Jack Ray recently attended Bumble and bumble University’s Color Workshop. The master level color workshop featured in-depth analysis of skin tones, development of the creative eye and your individual signature color formulation. Each day featured detailed and rigorous demonstrations designed to push the colorists to explore their color sensibilities and expand their boundaries. The Samuel Cole Team were able to apply what they learned in the classroom by working hands-on with models each day.

Oribe Educator and Editorial Expert, Kien Hoang Shares his Expertise

Oribe educator and editorial expert, Kien Hoang shared his expertise with Samuel Cole Salon in March. Hoang lead a class dedicated to “The Art of the Ponytail”. He taught stylists how to turn this common style into a high fashion editorial and runway look. Hoang brings over 20 years of experience as a stylist and is known as much for his artistry and technical skill as he is for his passion, warmth and generosity. His creative approach to hairstyling inspires stylists to go above and beyond their day-to-day salon work. His most current work was seen on the runways during NYFW ’14 and can also be seen at kienhoang.net.

“Kien is an incredible educator and a fixture in the world of fashion.  We were lucky to have him share his expertise with our salon on how to transition a quick, perfect ponytail into endless possibilities.  We had 22 stylists in attendance and no two looks were the same.  Our team was able to add striking looks to their portfolios,” said Sara Beard, Assistant Director of Education & Master Designer.

Kait Hu, Lauren Munns, Chelsea LePage and Morgan Tunnell recently attend the prestigious Bumble and bumble University in NYC. The team of Samuel Cole Salon stylists participated in a two-day hands-on styling master class. Expert Bumble and bumble educators put our stylist to the test and pushed them to take their foundational styling skills to the next level. The class was entirely focused on the art of styling and featured classic styling principles involving the flat brush and round brush. The virtue of consistency and replication were enforced by styling models in hand-on sessions under the intense eye of industry veterans.
