Highly Anticipated Formal Styling Class Features Hair Accessories

Every spring our advanced stylists look forward to our Elite Designer Alley Biehl’s Formal Styling class. Her experience and expertise combined with her eye for hair design is invaluable. As the lead stylist of our bridal team, White Dress Collective, Alley is always at the forefront of styling the latest formal trends.

Her class featured accessories in formal hair styling to elevate a look from formal to bridal. A beautiful way to accessorize your hair, just like you accessorize with jewelry, is to adorn your hair with decorative broaches, clips, barrettes, and lately floral wreaths and crowns have been very popular.

I love placing a headpiece beneath a bride’s veil so that when the veil is removed, it’s like a surprise! Plus it’s a fun “re-style” for the bride to wear during her reception.

Elite Designer + Mentor and White Dress Collective Lead Stylist Alley Biehl.

Baxter of California Master Barber Katie Lopez Features Skin Fade in Advanced Class

Katie Lopez shared her passion for men’s grooming in our Advanced Class featuring the barbering classic cut -the skin fade. A critical takeaway from the class was, any man can have a skin fade haircut, but not every man can have the same skin fade haircut.

Katie demonstrated using every tool for the haircut – clippers, edgers, razor and shears. No one tool is right for a haircut start to finish, it’s about how to use each tool for its purpose to get the best results!

I loved Katie Lopez’ passion for barbering and hearing her experience working with Baxter of California and competing (and winning!) in the North American Hairstyling Awards!

International Wella Top Artist Aubrey Loots Showcases Fall 2018 Color Trends

Aubrey Loots on the runway pre-show in South Africa.

The only thing Aubrey Loots is more passionate about than the fashion of hair styling is educating and inspiring hairstylists around the world.  As an educator Aubrey draws on his 23 years of experience styling and working on runway shows, fashion shows, and Red Carpet Events in New York, Paris, London, Korea and more.  Just in the past few months, Aubrey has worked on Behind the Chair’s hair show in Texas, led Wella’s styling team for African Fashion International’s Cape Town Fashion Week in South Africa, and presented at Wella’s TrendVision in Tokyo.  While in Tokyo, he also hosted his own week-long Creative Retreat where he taught and set up a photo shoot for stylists, led tours of top Tokyo salons and explored the culture through food, art and shopping.

At Samuel Cole Salon, Aubrey’s Master Color Workshop emphasized the art of color placement, strategically lightening pieces of hair that frame the face and therefore creating a major impact.  Aubrey’s “express brightening” technique achieved a brand new look in a shorter amount of time and would benefit anyone who desires a little extra drama between their routine maintenance appointments.

I loved everything about Aubrey’s class – his technique and formulations and his energy.  The artistic color placement refreshes your whole look without putting color all over your hair every single time.” – Stylist Denise Ficker

Insta-Famous Bombshell Extensions Certification

Hair Extensions add length and increase volume to give your hair the oomph you crave.  The Bombshell Certification workshop provides hands-on training and expertise in the application of these hot new types of extensions –

Natural Beaded Row extensions are the most gentle on your hair. A weft of hair is attached using a bead and string method, allowing natural hair to grow and stay strong and healthy.  Appointments to move up the extensions are recommended every 6-8 weeks and are the shortest maintenance appointments among all extensions types.

Hand-Tied Extensions are thin wefts of hair that lay flat against your scalp and hand-tied to you natural hair.  These extensions are the best option if you’re worried about the extensions blending with your natural hair because there is no bead or tape required.  Appointments to move up the extensions are recommended every 6-8 weeks.

Tape-in Extensions are strips of hair ranging in width from a quarter inch to two inches to customize placement and limit visibility.  Tape in extensions add volume and length to give your hair more body.

The best type of extensions for an individual is determined by personal preference, lifestyle and maintenance routine.
Schedule a consultation today to find out which type is best for you!

I’m most excited about the beaded row extensions because the maintenance appointments are so short and the hair lasts so long. If you’re taking good care of them you can use the same wefts of hair for up to a year.”
–  Certified Stylist Sam Smith

The beaded row extensions are a great option for individuals who struggle with growing out their hair.  You’re less likely to experience breakage (than using tape-ins) because the wefts are so gently applied and are only attached to such a small amount of hair.”

Wella Master Colorist Stevie Smith Shares Her Creative Color Workshop

Stevie Smith brought fresh inspiration from Wella’s coveted TrendVision Awards competition, which celebrates exceptional hairdressing talent and creativity across North America.  Each year, TrendVision provides stylists the opportunity to engage with the latest trends in styling to take hair artistry to the next level and showcase their skills in live competitions to advance their careers.

In her Creative Color Workshop, Stevie Smith shared advanced color formulations and custom patterns that pushed stylists to expand beyond the natural shades of everyday hair color.  Stylists got creative with artistic concepts such as placing cool and warm tones of brunettes and reds together.  She demonstrated how carefully chosen monochromatic nuances can soften a statement of color and create a beautifully harmonized look.

I really love how Stevie Smith’s workshops remind us that our industry is an art in the way that she explores combinations of color formulations and placement. – Stylist Kait Powers
