Oribe educator and owner of Little Axe Salon, Coby Alcantar was on-hand at Samuel Cole Salon to share her cutting expertise in a class focusing on the Unstructured Bob. This hairstyle is perfect for women with finer textures and those who don’t want too structured of a cut. It’s been worn by stars as diverse as Scarlett Johansson, Keira Knightly,  and Jennifer Lawrence.

The unstructured bob provides a great frame for eyes and cheekbones, and adds softness without too much length. During the class, Coby emphasized creating texture and movement with a razor. Stylist were inspired by Coby’s visual,  free style approach, giving a very sexy, undone look to what is traditionally a very geometric cut.  This technique creates a fresh, modern take on a very classic look.

Having Coby come to the salon for a cutting class is such a treat. Her energy and passion is contagious. We get to dive deep and nerd out on hair for a few hours with one the industries finest. It is such an invaluable educational experience”, said senior stylist, Nikki Galloni-Kepley.

The workshop revolved around poppiettes and pin curls. Tony wanted the stylists at Samuel Cole Salon to embrace their inner artist and creativity. “With all of the tools available to us now, we tend to forget that styling has not always been as easy”, said Caldwell. History’s hairdressing icons made their mark by being resourceful, creative, and authentic. Caldwell challenged the stylists to create a curl set without the use of a heating tool.

The stylist were only allowed to use bobby pins, torn out magazine pages, and Oribe’s Crème for Style styling cream to achieve the soft, textured, editorial look.

I thought it was refreshing. The class gave me a new outlook on how to create something simple and elegant”, said stylist, Natalie Bowers.

Tony’s passion for being a true artist is contagious.  I’m accustomed to utilizing heat while styling so I really liked how he showed us that we could achieve this timeless look in such a creative, almost effortless way.”, said stylist, Dustin Fann.

Introducing Smith & Cult Nailed Lacquer

Featured in Vogue

Featured in Vogue

Smith & Cult  luxury glam nail lacquers recently featured in the September issue of Vogue are now available at Samuel Cole Salon. This high end nail line was created by beauty veteran, Dineh Mohajer, founder of 1990’s favorite nail polish, Hard Candy. After years out of the spotlight, she is back, taking the beauty industry by storm once again with a new line of quirky color names and trendy, fashion-forward colors.

Glitters, neutrals, neons, and everything in between. Smith & Cult is comprised of 30 bold, high pigmented shades, plus a base and top coat. Each formulated to deliver both flawless smooth coverage and brilliant shine. Not to mention, they’re 5-free. Formulated without common chemicals found in most nail polishes meaning no dibutyl phthalate, toluene, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, and camphor.

The brands name is meant to express two sides within us: “Smith” showing a luxurious, soft, alluring side and “Cult” being dark, mysterious, seductive, and raw. The bottles echo that same sentiment — one side is smooth and pristine, while the other side is distinctly dented. Each shade is inspired by and representative of the experiences depicted in her diary entries of a beauty-addicted heroine who sees her world through a lens of color.

Smith & Cult differs from both Hard Candy and other beauty brands in that every aspect of the brand is derived from the Diary of our Beauty Junkie — basically me,” says Mohajer. Women can’t help but relate to her/my emotional connection to beauty and relate to the dualities we all inhabit throughout our lives, from triumph to tears, bliss to heartbreak, elegance to absurdity, and everything in between.” says Mohajer.
