Long Layered Haircut with Davines Educator Anca Morar

Anca Morar has been in the hair industry since 2015. After graduating from the Douglas J. Aveda Institute in Chicago, she dove deeper into her passion for hair by completing a 2 year apprenticeship with a Reverie Artistic Director. She has traveled everywhere from New York to Vegas doing hair and makeup for the Kaizen Education Team. Our team was so excited to have her in the salon teaching long layered hair cutting!

Her class focused on dry cutting techniques to create soft layers and texture throughout long hair. She used Davines products such as, Blow dry primer and All in one milk to finish the look giving her long layers a soft, touchable texture! Anca has such a positive and creative vibe, she really makes learning fun! We can’t wait to have her back and see what she has for us next!

Oribe’s Essential Curly Cutting Workshop with Gardner Edmunds

Who doesn’t LOVE natural curls! With the right cut and products natural texture can be a show stopper! Samuel Cole had the privilege of having Oribe Artist and Educator Gardner Edmunds in the salon to teach us just that!

Gardner has worked with top industry professionals and his expertise in precision-based scissor and razor cutting is highly sought after. He has travelled and taught at numerous hair shows and seminars across the country, and his clientele includes Olivia Palermo, Rebecca Minkoff, and Kelly Ripa. Our stylists watched him demo Oribe’s curly cutting technique on our very own Michelle Cogliati, master stylist and educator at Samuel Cole Salon. Look at those CURLS! Definitely a show stopper!

Mark DeBolt visits Samuel Cole for a Master Color Class

Samuel Cole Stylists cannot say enough great things about Mark DeBolt! He is a regular on our Master Color Education Calendar! We are always so thrilled to have him in our salon teaching us all the new and different trends for color.

At the start of his career, Mark worked with celebrity stylist Marie Robinson. He later became a New York trusted colorist to icons such as Naomi Watts, Rebecca Taylor, and Vanessa Ferlito. Mark worked with Wella Professionals as a Brand Ambassador, Educator, and Color Expert for many years but has since embarked on a new journey being one of the proud owners of MarkRyan Salon in New York!

Many of our stylists say their favorite education class is Mark DeBolt Day! For his latest master color class, we dove deep into the challenges our industry has had since the Covid 19 pandemic and how to adapt with those changes. Our stylists watched as he did not one but two types of blonding models for us. The first was his take on the classic highlight. We talked sectioning, glaze formulations and root bumps! The result was one of effortless looking beauty! The second model was a look into Mark’s technique for the world of Balayage and Root Shadowing. He is always one to share the best color formulations from Shades EQ, to Koleston Perfect, and Color touch. They are always PERFECT! We can’t wait for Mark DeBolt Day in 2022!!

Oribe Global Educator Kein Hoang teaches The Modern Shag

If you are in the world of hair, you likely know who Kein Hoang is! Kein is an Oribe Global Educator and Lead Stylist, Founder of UMBRELLA SALON in California, a staple at New York Fashion Week and has been featured in magazines such as Modern Salon, Salon Today and Harpers Bazaar, just to name a few. Kein is one of Samuel Cole’s long-time favorites and we are always so excited to have him share, in his unique way, what’s trending in hair. He did not let us down with his Modern Shag Class!

Back from the world of virtual, Kein was our first in-person educator for 2021! His class focused on the evolving shag haircut. Stylists watched as he broke down the sectioning patterns to take this haircut from the 70’s shag to today’s trend of layers, fringe and texture! What’s a haircut without the right products? Kein then showed our stylists the importance of product application. He finished the look with Oribe curly products and their newest setting product Tres Set. Check out the finished look!!

Journey To Mastery The Modern Bride

Master stylists Katie Pursche and Alley Biehl traveled to Birmingham, Alabama to attend Oribe’s Journey to Mastery, The Modern Bride class at The Collective BHM Salon.

This two day workshop was taught by Oribe Educator and Owner of Studio Six Two Four Salon in Boston, Ashley Brecken and Umbrella Salon Founder and Oribe Director of Content and Training Kein Hoang. The class took an in depth look at formal styling. They focused on how to create classic and editorial looks you see in magazines and on the red carpet. Ashley and Kein created an environment for creativity and growth, pushing the stylists to go beyond the techniques they know and challenge themselves to do it different and better!

Alley and Katie had such a great experience learning from Ashley and Kein and cannot wait to share what they learned with their team at Samuel Cole! Here is one one of the many looks they created on their models!
