SAMUEL COLE SALON was recently named to the SALON TODAY 200 by SALON TODAY, the leading business media for salon and spa owners.

The magazine’s 20th annual SALON TODAY 200 issue profiled the selected salons in its January 2017 edition. The 200 salons were honored for their best business practices from applications submitted by SALON TODAY readers, who represent the 20,000 top-producing salons and spas in the country.

Samuel Cole Salon was honored in the following best practices categories: Compensation & Benefits, Customer Service, Employee Education, Salon Culture and Inventory Management.

“Our editors recognize that strong business leadership requires the mastery of a number of different best business practices,” said Stacey Soble, editor-in-chief of SALON TODAY. “The salons named to the SALON TODAY 200 for 2017 not only proved they excel in one or more of these areas, they also have created rewarding environments for their staff members and standout experiences for their clients. Their willingness to share their success offers our readers important business benchmarks and inspirational business-building ideas.”

Salon Today is a division of Modern Salon Media, which is owned by Bobit Business Media in Torrance, California.

Wella Color Genius Coco Kootsillas Reveals Color Trends in Master Class

Carla “Coco” Kootsillas, 2016 Wella Trendvision Runner Up, introduced the color mega-brand’s Spring – Summer 2017 Trend Inspiration: Ultra Contouring by Optical Illusions. The trend expands the scope of the selfie culture, toward ultra personalization.  This Spring we will see people embracing brave and bold individuality, pushing to intensify their personal character, and going daringly and deliberately beyond a standardized beauty.

Cara’s rich, deep brunette was created with layers of color blocking, a modern interpretation of the 90’s fad

After introducing Wella’s trend forecast, Kootsillas facilitated a hands-on session in which Samuel Cole stylists consulted with and created custom formulations and application techniques for their models.  Kootsillas personalized her feedback and coaching based on each group’s model and stylists’ levels of experience.  Samuel Cole’s culture is deeply rooted in education, and features monthly advanced learning opportunities for its team.

Coco encouraged us to tap into our inner artist and critically formulate complex hues.  No question went unanswered or cast aside; the interactive nature of the class created an authentic relationship between us.” – Jenny Smith, Stylist and Education Team Member

Wella Professional Mark Debolt Brings Fresh Color Trends to Samuel Cole Salon

Wella Professional Ambassadors , Educator and Hair Color Expert Mark Debolt energized stylists in his Master Color class at Samuel Cole Salon.  He shared his style of conducting a successful color consultation and  demonstrated application techniques and custom color formulating based on models and their natural hair color.  Stylists especially appreciate Debolt’s Question-and-Answer style of teaching; stylists ask candid genuine questions and Debolt’s answers are specific and informed.  His passion for hair coloring is absolutely contagious.

Mark treats each stylist with absolute individual attention and humble professionalism.  His strength is relating to the stylists and teaching them what they need to learn in order to work behind the chair.  To teach a class in such a way that reaches the wide range of experience that we have – from recent graduates to 30-year veterans – is truly incredible.” – Cara Harrison

Wella Professional and Nine Zero One Educator Nicole Leal demonstrated lightening techniques and provided individual feedback as stylists practiced her methods.  Nikki and Kelsey are eager to use what they learned to further maintain the integrity and the brightness of their blondes.

This class helped me value the versatility and power of using foils to lighten hair.  To get a really bright blonde you have to use a foil, versus balayage, and you can also create a natural ‘hand-painted look’ in a foil, too.” – Nikki Kepley
