Oribe Atelier Inspires Samuel Cole Stylists

Oribe Hair Care Ateliers gather like-minded, education-driven stylists to reinvigorate their passion for their craft.  Samuel Cole stylists Denise Ficker, Melanie Giovannini and Breanna Shaffer attended the Nashville Atelier, which inspired them to enhance their editorial hairdressing skills.  Oribe’s Global Ambassador and educator James Pecis let his brilliance shine on stage as he demonstrated the editorial style for stylists to emulate in the hands-on workshop.  Pecis shared the stage with fellow Oribe Educators and celebrity stylists Coby Alcantar, Kein Hoang, and Christian Ceja-Compin.

The Atelier is an exhilarating fashion show-style experience, from the opening act to the concluding hands-on workshop.  The models were presented and each educator individually explained their process and techniques in detail.  Pecis demonstrated the final editorial style: a combination of retro victory rolls and a modern chignon bun at the nape.  As stylists recreated this look on their models, educators floated throughout to provide individual expert feedback, while photographers staged the models for a shot of the final look.

This Oribe Atelier exposed me to up and coming trends, not only what’s trendy now, but what’s coming next – like bangs! Everyone had killer bangs!!!” -Melanie Giovannini

Celebrity Stylist Robert Vasquez Updates the 50’s Beehive

Silvi’s Beehive Style

Robert Vasquez, lead Educator for luxury brand R+Co, demonstrated a modern beehive up-style and coached Samuel Cole stylists through a hands-on workshop to replicate the look.  Stylists combined foundational and innovative techniques to create their version of the modern beehive upstyle.

Using the right styling products is key to mastering the “Beehive.”  The hair must be flexible yet strong to stay smooth and stay put once pinned in the right place.  Stylists maintained lift at the root with R+Co Jackpot Styling Cream, and gave the mids to ends of the hair grip with Dallas Thickening Spray.  To achieve the fullness of an authentic beehive look, a lot of teasing and backcombing is required, and Vasquez demonstrated how to hide the teased hair, which kept the hive smooth and flawless.

Robert was very involved during the hands-on part of the class, and his expertise is amazing.  I loved having up close and personal instruction on how to perfect this look.” – Stylist Heather Simpson

Master Stylists Michael, Nikki, and Kristen Explore Curls at LBP Studios in Miami

R+CoMichael Kristen Nikki with Instructor Curly R+Co breaks the mold to provide powerful products created by a trio of three not-so-like-minded individuals – Howard McLaren, Thom Priano, and Garren – whose sum is definitely greater than its parts.  As a Luxury Brand Partners brand, R+Co classes are taught at LBP Studios in the Wynwood District of Miami.

Stylists Michael, Nikki, and Kristen visited LBP Studios to experience the philosophy of R+Co in a Curly Hair Cutting class. Lead R+Co Instructor Andrean Noir guided the class as stylists examined their model’s curl patterns. Each tendril moves differently, so creating a cohesive look to enhance the hair’s organic waves requires visionary artistic skills.

The concept of visual cutting gives stylists a chance to create a custom look for each individual based on their own personal thickness, texture, and wave pattern.” – Michael Knight

Master Stylist Alley Biehl Preps Samuel Cole Stylists for Formal Season

Lauren's UpdoAlley Biehl started event styling when she was twelve years old.  What began as a hobby for her sisters’ friends has become the forefront of her career as a hairdresser.

Alley shared her specialty with Samuel Cole stylists, covering everything from the consultation process to pinning the final strands of hair into place.  These skills are no longer used solely for a bride’s wedding day – trendy formal hairstyles are requested for prom, music festivals, and special occasions.

Stylists often draw inspiration from pictures of the look a client wants, and then personalize the look to complement her natural features.  They master techniques to create a variety of curl styles – textured beachy waves, vintage pincurls, or spiral corkscrews, and incorporate braids or headpieces into the look.
Alley gave one-on-one attention to each stylist, and I got specific feedback from her.  I saw an improvement in my updos after simply tweaking my pinning technique.  –Isabella Vazquaz

Master Stylist Nikki Kepley Announces New Boutique Hours

Nikki Press ReleaseNikki + Nollie2Q: Tell us about your new life… How’s motherhood?
A: Oh goodness! Motherhood is crazy. All the emotions! It’s been the biggest, most consuming and confusing, rewarding and exhausting blessing I’ve ever experienced. Helping another human grow up is a fascinating experience.

Q: So you’re back to work, how’s that transition been?
A: It is actually wonderful!  You know, leaving your sweet little baby at home sounds heart breaking but I am passionate about my career as a hairstylist.  I love returning to the creativity and the inspiration that I experience on a daily basis.

Nikki PicQ: Now that you’re back into the swing of things, what trends are catching your eye?
A: Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of natural enhancements, which I am totally digging. I love the concept of taking what God gave you and making it amazing – Keeping color rooty but sun kissed in all the right places. I’ve been drawn to utilizing my razor to create natural movement and texture,  I love creating lived-in wearable signature looks for my clients.

Q: We’ve noticed you have new boutique hours. When can people come see you?
A: I do! I am so fortunate to have a new schedule that lets me share my two passions, hairdressing and baby Nollie. I am in the salon Monday through Wednesday and look  forward to seeing long time clients along with new folks in the future!
