March 26, 2012 (RALEIGH, NC) – Top stylist, Alley Biehl has joined the award-winning team of stylists at Samuel Cole Salon in North Raleigh. Biehl brings 6 years of experience and expertise in the beauty industry to Samuel Cole. Recently relocated from Michigan, Biehl comes to Samuel Cole Salon from Salon U in Chicago (a Bumble & bumble exclusive salon), where she spent the last 5 years as one of their top stylists.

Known for her creativity and expertise in cutting and coloring techniques, Biehl compliments the level of professionalism that has come to be expected at Samuel Cole Salon.

“We look for stylists who are passionate about the craft of hairdressing, naturally talented, and who strive to continuously improve their skills,” said Joelle Ray, co-owner of Samuel Cole Salon with her husband, Jack Ray. “Alley is a perfect fit for our salon. We are thrilled to add her extensive knowledge to our team,” added Ray.

Biehl has attended advanced cutting and coloring classes taught by Bumble & bumble and Wella Studio in Chicago. In addition she participated in The Redken Symposium in Las Vegas and The Redken Midwest Forum in Grand Rapids.

Samuel Cole Salon Hosts Advanced MAC Makeup Workshop

March 19, 2012 (Raleigh, NC) – MAC Makeup experts, Krystal Lehman and Marissa Lamperi were on-site at Samuel Cole Salon to teach an advanced makeup workshop. The workshop focused on three celebrity looks and MAC trends. The looks included Reese Witherspoon (all natural, glowing skin and eye-focused), Zooey Deschanel (bright, dewey skin with neon lips), and Kim Kardashian (heavy, smoked eyes). Stylists came away with fresh ideas and techniques that they can translate and customize for each of their clients.

“What an amazing, in-depth class the artists from MAC put on! Mastering three totally different looks really catered to what is current in fashion and what our clients really want. This was the perfect class to have right before prom and wedding season. Bumble & bumble Design School

January 30-31, 2012 (New York City) – Samuel Cole Salon Senior Stylist, Nikki Kepley attended Current Workshop at Bumble and bumble University (Bb U) in NYC. She enhanced her passion for their craft in this rigorous 3 day advanced cutting course. She refined her techniques learned in prior Design School cutting classes by learning to translate editorial references and fashion trends for her clients and developing an eye to design modern haircuts. She engaged in daily hands-on sessions with multiple models, experienced inspirational demos, and learned to incorporate trends and modern influences into her work.

“Current workshop was about customizing cuts and tailoring them to each client’s needs. Taking bits and pieces from multiple, different haircuts to create the perfect shape for each individual model was really amazing,” commented Kepley.

“Nikki is super talented and we are so proud to have such a dedicated and passionate stylist on our team. We applaud and support her commitment to continual advanced education,” said Joelle Ray, co-owner of Samuel Cole Salon with her husband, Jack Ray.

January 28, 2012 (RALEIGH) – Jack and Joelle Ray, owners of Samuel Cole Salon hosted their 5th Annual Holiday Awards Celebration. The red-carpet event took place in downtown Raleigh at the Sheraton. The Ray’s host the event each year to celebrate the accomplishments and success of their salon team.

Top performance awards were given to the following winners:
Sara Beard- Stylist of the Year & Client Educator of the Year.

Carolyn Nord- Runner Up Stylist of the Year & Runner Up Client Educator of the Year.

Veronique Breault- Associate of the Year

Nichole LuMaye- The Carpe Diem Award

The Rays recognized the dedication and excellence of their Guest Services team, Heather Densford, Amanda Crane, Stephanie Tate and Ashley Orr. The Ray’s also thanked their management team for their outstanding performance and commitment.

Joelle Ray along with stylist, Sara Beard, hosted the popular award’s night segment – The “Bob’ies” – which featured a tribute to each team member.

“I love our annual awards party. We have such an amazingly talented, hardworking group at the salon. Each person contributes so much to the overall success of the salon. It is fun to hang out with everyone and simple say “thank you” for another terrific year,” said Joelle.

Editorial Powerhouse, Ronnie Stam Returns to Samuel Cole Salon for a Hands-On Editorial Event

January 2, 2012 (RALEIGH, NC) – Samuel Cole Salon owners Jack and Joelle Ray enlisted the expertise of legendary editorial stylist Ronnie Stam. Stam was brought in to teach a hands-on workshop to Samuel Cole Salon’s top stylists and educators. Each stylist worked one on one with Stam to create looks on their model to build their portfolio.

“Ronnie was so personable and taught me how to classically set hair as a basic foundation for anything imaginable for print or runway looks. It was inspiring to take in Ronnie’s thought process while “on set” for our own photo shoot. I added some incredible editorial pictures to my portfolio,” remarked Samuel Cole Salon Master Stylist, Sara Beard.

Ronnie’s work has graced top global fashion publications, TV commercials, advertising campaigns, calendar’s, music videos and many special projects. One of the personal highlights in Ronnie’s career has been to work exclusively and tour with world known rock bands The Rolling Stones and Aerosmith.
