Oribe Global Educator Kein Hoang teaches The Modern Shag

If you are in the world of hair, you likely know who Kein Hoang is! Kein is an Oribe Global Educator and Lead Stylist, Founder of UMBRELLA SALON in California, a staple at New York Fashion Week and has been featured in magazines such as Modern Salon, Salon Today and Harpers Bazaar, just to name a few. Kein is one of Samuel Cole’s long-time favorites and we are always so excited to have him share, in his unique way, what’s trending in hair. He did not let us down with his Modern Shag Class!

Back from the world of virtual, Kein was our first in-person educator for 2021! His class focused on the evolving shag haircut. Stylists watched as he broke down the sectioning patterns to take this haircut from the 70’s shag to today’s trend of layers, fringe and texture! What’s a haircut without the right products? Kein then showed our stylists the importance of product application. He finished the look with Oribe curly products and their newest setting product Tres Set. Check out the finished look!!

Journey To Mastery The Modern Bride

Master stylists Katie Pursche and Alley Biehl traveled to Birmingham, Alabama to attend Oribe’s Journey to Mastery, The Modern Bride class at The Collective BHM Salon.

This two day workshop was taught by Oribe Educator and Owner of Studio Six Two Four Salon in Boston, Ashley Brecken and Umbrella Salon Founder and Oribe Director of Content and Training Kein Hoang. The class took an in depth look at formal styling. They focused on how to create classic and editorial looks you see in magazines and on the red carpet. Ashley and Kein created an environment for creativity and growth, pushing the stylists to go beyond the techniques they know and challenge themselves to do it different and better!

Alley and Katie had such a great experience learning from Ashley and Kein and cannot wait to share what they learned with their team at Samuel Cole! Here is one one of the many looks they created on their models!

Senior Designers Libby + Morgan Attend Celebrity Styling Academy Nine Zero One

Located in the heart of Los Angeles, trendsetting Nine Zero One Salon is the salon-home for dozens of celebrities and prides itself on creating “The Best You” and sharing their professional expertise in their prestigious 901 Academy. Nine Zero One’s clientele includes Heidi Klum, Eva Longoria, Charlize Theron, Selena Gomez, Sarah Hyland, Justin Bieber, Julianne Hough, and Ashley Graham.

Stylists Libby + Morgan went to their Break It Up Tone It Down color class, which focused on creating richness in color, controlling warm tones, and color blending. Their educator Tauni Dawson began her styling career assisting Riawna Capri to Hollywood clientele, on-location photoshoots and high-profile weddings.

International Wella Top Artist Aubrey Loots Showcases Fall 2018 Color Trends

The only thing Aubrey Loots is more passionate about than the fashion of hair styling is educating and inspiring hairstylists around the world. As an educator Aubrey draws on his 23 years of experience styling and working on runway shows, fashion shows, and Red Carpet Events in New York, Paris, London, Korea and more. Just in the past few months, Aubrey has worked on Behind the Chair’s hair show in Texas, led Wella’s styling team for African Fashion International’s Cape Town Fashion Week in South Africa, and presented at Wella’s TrendVision in Tokyo. While in Tokyo, he also hosted his own week-long Creative Retreat where he taught and set up a photo shoot for stylists, led tours of top Tokyo salons and explored the culture through food, art and shopping.

At Samuel Cole Salon, Aubrey’s Master Color Workshop emphasized the art of color placement, strategically lightening pieces of hair that frame the face and therefore creating a major impact. Aubrey’s “express brightening” technique achieved a brand new look in a shorter amount of time and would benefit anyone who desires a little extra drama between their routine maintenance appointments.
