Helping Our Community

From now until July 31st, Samuel Cole Salon is joining forces with the Raleigh Rescue Mission to collect in demand items for those in need. The Raleigh Rescue Mission serves men and women battling life controlling issues, women and children needing emergency shelter, those who thirst in the summer and shiver in the winter, those that never had a chance and those who need a second chance.

The Mission is in desperate need of the following: Books, toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, deodorant, razors, shaving cream, soap, floss, mouthwash, lotion, etc. Please bring your donations to the salon at the time of your next appointment or anytime that is convenient for you. We will have a large basket in the reception area where you can place your donations.

Thank you in advance for your help. We are excited to help our community!

Wella Colorist Drew Calloway Brings The Latest Tortoiseshell Color Craze

Samuel Cole Salon Owner, Jack Ray and Wella Colorist, Drew Calloway

Wella educator and stylist Drew Calloway was at Samuel Cole Salon to share the newest coloring trend, tortoiseshell (ecaille). “To be clear, this isn’t so much a dye technique as it is a color,” Howard says. “Think of tortoiseshell and all the colors that come in it: golden blondes, chestnuts, mahogany, chocolate, honey, and all those lovely, warm tones.” It sounds delicious, sure, but the key here is that it’s multidimensional, which means many tones are being painted — not foiled, Howard notes — into the hair.

Drew was born and raised here in the Tar Heel State where he started his hair career fresh out of high school, practicing and perfecting his craft behind the chair while teaching advanced education as a National Educator for Paul Mitchell. Drew moved to fashion forward and fast paced NYC to really hone in on his skills, with a strong focus on hair color, while taking on a role as an Educator for Wella.

Drew classDrew currently works as a stylist at Laicale in the heart of SoHo, surrounded by “downtown inspiration” and is constantly striving for perfecting the next trend in hair color! He has worked in various settings from fashion photo shoots, coordinating hair for wedding parties, and backstage coloring hair for large scale hair shows, but being behind the chair and bringing smiles to clients faces while sharing the gift of knowledge is what he is most passionate about.

Drew taught me to look at color tones in a different way. Combining warm and cool tones to give clients the ultimate dimension. Encouraging us as colorist to expand our creativity results in more options for our clients.” Stylist, Ashley Eaves

Master Stylists Carolyn Nord and Nikki Galloni-Keply along with Samuel Cole Salon owner, Jack Ray recently attended Bumble and bumble University’s Color Workshop. The master level color workshop featured in-depth analysis of skin tones, development of the creative eye and your individual signature color formulation. Each day featured detailed and rigorous demonstrations designed to push the colorists to explore their color sensibilities and expand their boundaries. The Samuel Cole Team were able to apply what they learned in the classroom by working hands-on with models each day.

“Bumble and bumble Educators always give me an excellent opportunity to continue to develop my eye as a colorist and stylist. The time spent in this class was so valuable and I’m excited to bring this education back to our salon and our stylists”, said Jack Ray -Owner Samuel Cole Salon

Samuel Cole Salon and the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina have joined forces to “Stock the Pantry” this summer. The summer months are particularly challenging when children in need are out of school and have even less access to nutritional meals. Almost half of those who use the Food Bank’s services are children and those over the age of 65.needed contributions for infants are diapers, wipes, formula and infant cereal. For kids the most needed are sugar- free pudding cups, granola bars, popcorn crackers and juice boxes. And for seniors, nutritional shakes and drinks as well as adult hygiene products. More general but still on the most needed list are canned fruit, vegetables, meat, beans and soup as well as whole grain pasta and rice and peanut butter. Lastly are hygiene items, household items and paper products. The food bank requests no glass please. We will be collecting items from now until August 30, 2014. Just drop off your contribution at your next appointment or whenever it is convenient . There is collection box in our reception area. We are super excited to help such an amazing organization! Thank you so much in advance for your help.

“Thank you to all of our amazing salon guests and stylists who have generously contributed and have made a positive difference in our community”, said Jack Ray. – owner Samuel Cole Salon

“Design Workshop really pushed me outside of my box with the straight razor. I am so inspired and can’t wait to bring my new advanced skills back to the salon,” said Spellenburg.
