International Wella Top Artist Aubrey Loots Showcases Fall 2018 Color Trends

Aubrey Loots on the runway pre-show in South Africa.

The only thing Aubrey Loots is more passionate about than the fashion of hair styling is educating and inspiring hairstylists around the world.  As an educator Aubrey draws on his 23 years of experience styling and working on runway shows, fashion shows, and Red Carpet Events in New York, Paris, London, Korea and more.  Just in the past few months, Aubrey has worked on Behind the Chair’s hair show in Texas, led Wella’s styling team for African Fashion International’s Cape Town Fashion Week in South Africa, and presented at Wella’s TrendVision in Tokyo.  While in Tokyo, he also hosted his own week-long Creative Retreat where he taught and set up a photo shoot for stylists, led tours of top Tokyo salons and explored the culture through food, art and shopping.

At Samuel Cole Salon, Aubrey’s Master Color Workshop emphasized the art of color placement, strategically lightening pieces of hair that frame the face and therefore creating a major impact.  Aubrey’s “express brightening” technique achieved a brand new look in a shorter amount of time and would benefit anyone who desires a little extra drama between their routine maintenance appointments.

I loved everything about Aubrey’s class – his technique and formulations and his energy.  The artistic color placement refreshes your whole look without putting color all over your hair every single time.” – Stylist Denise Ficker

Wella Master Colorist Stevie Smith Shares Her Creative Color Workshop

Stevie Smith brought fresh inspiration from Wella’s coveted TrendVision Awards competition, which celebrates exceptional hairdressing talent and creativity across North America.  Each year, TrendVision provides stylists the opportunity to engage with the latest trends in styling to take hair artistry to the next level and showcase their skills in live competitions to advance their careers.

In her Creative Color Workshop, Stevie Smith shared advanced color formulations and custom patterns that pushed stylists to expand beyond the natural shades of everyday hair color.  Stylists got creative with artistic concepts such as placing cool and warm tones of brunettes and reds together.  She demonstrated how carefully chosen monochromatic nuances can soften a statement of color and create a beautifully harmonized look.

I really love how Stevie Smith’s workshops remind us that our industry is an art in the way that she explores combinations of color formulations and placement. – Stylist Kait Powers

Hairtalk Master Educator Tucker Cinalli Shares Extensions Expertise

Samuel Cole Salon hosted Hairtalk Extensions Master Educator Tucker Cinalli in a hands-on educational event dedicated to the entire extensions experience, exploring the range of possibilities that hair extensions can offer.  Whether looking for length and thickness or a fun new color, Hairtalk Extensions have an answer.  Made with Remy Human Hair, the most luxurious type of extension hair, Hairtalk transformations deliver results while looking completely natural.

Innovative technology in Hairtalk Extensions create the illusion that the hair is growing directly from the scalp, ensuring that the tape is completely undetectable and leaving you worry-free!  Hairtalk extensions come in several options – lengths, tape widths, and color shades – to provide the most customized extensions experience.

I loved hearing the instructor Tucker’s insight on the versatility of extensions – when my clients are frustrated that their hair just won’t grow past a certain point or can’t get blonde enough, I know I can depend on Hairtalk extensions to provide solutions for them.” – Stylist Libby Bink

Throwback to Vintage Hollywood Glam with Robert Vasquez

Inspired by Rita Hayworth’s characters in 1940’s and 50’s films, Robert Vasquez, like his mentor and hair stylist superstar Garren, often reinvents the Vintage Hollywood Glam style.  Vasquez demonstrated the parting and curl direction that recreates this look and featured R+Co products that bring the curls to life with volume and long-lasting hold.

Dallas Thickening Spray volumizes hair, holds heat-styled looks, and prevents moisture loss; Grid Structural Hold Setting Spray blocks humidity and holds shape so the style lasts longer; Foil Frizz + Static Control Spray tames flyaways and frizz while adding shine, eliminating static, adding shine and providing heat protection; Outer Space Flexible Hair Spray’s memory allows the stylist to brush through a set style, knowing it will go back into place.

I loved this look! Vintage retro styles are so on-trend.  The curl techniques Robert shared were awesome and I really love learning alternative ways of doing things.” – Sam Smith

Wella Master Colorist Coco Kootsillas Launches 2018 Spring + Summer Color Trends

Carla “Coco” Kootsillas is known for her master color formulations and combining her color expertise with modern cutting and styling techniques.  She is always ahead of the trends and will be competing in the mega-brand’s yearly styling and coloring North American Competition, TrendVision 2018!

Coco’s philosophy is to treat hair as another one of your accessories and that it should match your lifestyle.  Spring and Summer 2018 styles feature warm and soft colors, like peaches and roses, and everything is bright and light.  These trends are showing up in today’s popular makeup palettes, using peachy tones and highlighters to create a radiant glow.  Styles are not gender-specific, men are growing long hair and women are wearing short cuts that do not require precise styling and are sporting “boy brows” – embracing and grooming full eyebrows instead of wearing them pencil thin like we saw in the 1990’s.

We see these trends mirrored in hair color and styling; brighter highlights frame the face while keeping a natural root color at the crown and in the back.  Monotone color with very slight variations in highlights and low lights rather than a drastic contrast between highlights and lowlights.  Blondes will see tones of champagne, honey, vanilla, and coconut milk, making their blonde really pop and feel blonder.  Brunettes’ face frame with tones of soft copper, toffee, dark caramel, and amber.

Coco has a unique blend of technical and creative artistry.  She has the extraordinary ability to incorporate runway trends into everyday wear – her classes always give me extra focus and inspiration in creating a color that reflects my client’s individual style.” – Stylist Carmella Williamson
