Editorial Stylist Kelly Peach Shares Beauty + Upstyle in Master Class

Master Stylist Cara Harrison‘s Model

Kelly Peach is a hairdresser’s hairdresser and an incredibly talented editorial stylist whose work has appeared in New York and Paris Fashion Weeks.  She’s a popular social media beauty maven and insta-celebrity (@kellypeachbeauty), whose 16.1k Instagram followers give her a platform to share her vast knowledge of all things beauty – including self-styling tips!

Kelly Peach’s editorial styling class covered versatile skills that can be used for a variety of formal hairstyles – classic finger waves and a low rolled bun.  Her modern iteration of finger waves is an ode to “Old Hollywood” and is a style that has been seen on the red carpet among Amy Adams, Blake Lively and Miranda Lambert.  The low rolled bun has become a go-to formal look – donned by Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Watson and Emma Stone.  Kelly Peach innovated these classic looks by combining them into one powerful modern editorial style.

Kelly Peach is phenomenal! She is so down to earth and shared the best techniques and tips with us.  She mixes Oribe Beauty’s Gold Lust Face Drops with her foundation for a natural glow, and I’m obsessed.  Her Facebook Live tutorials are a must-watch! – Katie Pursche, Senior Designer and Director of Salon Education + Recruitment

Makeup Expert Bri Swing Shares On Trend Looks

Bri Swing is a Raleigh freelance makeup artist and Retail Manager at MAC Cosmetics.  Bri’s career launched as the popularity of self-education with YouTube and makeup bloggers was on the rise.  She believes in the power of makeup to help people improve their body image and boost self-acceptance, and is motivated by the increased interest in makeup she has noticed over the past few years.

Exclusively for Samuel Cole Stylists, Bri demonstrated of three current trends that brides and formal-goers are loving: Classic Retro, Kardashian Glam, and Boho Bride.  The Classic Retro look beckons the days of pin-up girls: perfected skin with soft contouring, winged eyeliner and a bold red lipstick.  Today’s “Kardashian Glam” trend is all about the highlighting and contouring, a sultry smokey eye, and defined brows. The Coachella-style boho bride features the new Strobing trend – a glossy, glowing highlight that illuminates natural skin with nude tones throughout the cheeks and lips.

I loved seeing three different looks so that we can serve all of our guests and create the look they want to achieve.  We can also help them find a look they don’t know how to create for themselves – some people are afraid of a bold red lip, but everyone can wear it if you give them the right shade!” -Erin Fogarty

Master Stylist Alley Biehl Preps Samuel Cole Stylists for Formal Season

Lauren's UpdoAlley Biehl started event styling when she was twelve years old.  What began as a hobby for her sisters’ friends has become the forefront of her career as a hairdresser.

Alley shared her specialty with Samuel Cole stylists, covering everything from the consultation process to pinning the final strands of hair into place.  These skills are no longer used solely for a bride’s wedding day – trendy formal hairstyles are requested for prom, music festivals, and special occasions.

Stylists often draw inspiration from pictures of the look a client wants, and then personalize the look to complement her natural features.  They master techniques to create a variety of curl styles – textured beachy waves, vintage pincurls, or spiral corkscrews, and incorporate braids or headpieces into the look.
Alley gave one-on-one attention to each stylist, and I got specific feedback from her.  I saw an improvement in my updos after simply tweaking my pinning technique.  –Isabella Vazquaz

Samuel Cole Stylists Makeover Author For The News and Observer

Makeover

The News and Observer asked Samuel Cole Salon to send some of our talented stylists to help makeover Elizabeth Langston prior to her book signing that took place at Quail Ridge Books & Music located in Raleigh. Elizabeth considers her style relaxed with an old fashion feel to it. She wanted a more youthful look to help connect with young adult readers but didn’t want to go overboard. Stylist KatieM crafted an updated hairstyle. Elizabeth wanted to keep her natural color so KatieM used Oribe Bright Blonde Shampoo, which refined  her salt and pepper hair and added a clear gloss for shine. As for the cut, KatieM shortened the bangs while adding texture to the whole haircut to add some movement to the style. She wanted to keep the length to add drama, however it could also be tucked to give it a sleeker look. Elizabeth’s makeup was done by stylist Jenny and she wanted to keep it natural to accent her natural attributes.  Jenny finished her look with false lashes to make her eyes pop and used a plum lip gloss to add a little sex appeal.

It feels great to be able to make someone over that wants the change. You could tell she really enjoyed the outcome!” Said stylist KatieM.

Women entered the contest at www.macys.com/makeoveramerica, where they uploaded a photo or video and answered questions on why they should be selected for a Clinton Kelly makeover.
