Samuel Cole Salon Hits Miami at Oribe’s Backstage “La Fama”

Jack Ray recreates “El Chupacabra” at Samuel Cole Salon

June 8-10, 2013 (RALEIGH, NC) – Samuel Cole Salon owners, Jack and Joelle Ray along with salon top stylists, Sara Beard, Carolyn Nord, Cara Harrison and Alley Biehl attended Oribe’s Backstage 2013 held in Miami. The multi-day event featured “La Fama”, an electric presentation celebrating all that is Latin.

As part of the Backstage Hands On Workshop, Beard, Nord, Harrison, Biehl and Jack Ray delved into the artistic side of things and transformed their models into “El Chupacabra”. Oribe encouraged participants to create their own interpretation of this mystical monster and name it. “It was all about hairdressers expressing themselves,” said Oribe. “I was blown away by the magic of the runway show.”

Upon their return from Miami the stylists hosted a class recreating the “La Fama” event at Samuel Cole Salon. Each Samuel Cole Salon stylist had the opportunity to interpret the inspiration and transform their models into “El Chupacabra”.

“Working with Oribe is always amazing. He is so creative, open and generous. We love having him as a mentor,” said Joelle Ray, owner of Samuel Cole Salon.

Samuel Cole Salon Network Educators Return to Bumble & bumble University in New York City

June 3-5, 2013 (RALEIGH, NC) – Samuel Cole Salon stylists and Network Educators, Sara Beard and Jenny Smith, returned to Bumble & bumble University in New York City to attend Network Educator II Workshop. According to Bumble, the Network Educator School “trains top talent in our Network salons to help inspire creativity, superlative customer service, and client education. Hairdressers at the height of their careers can translate their dedication, passion, and expertise to their fellow stylists.” After graduating as Network Educators from Network Educator I Workshop, Beard and Smith have been extensively involved in all salon educational events at Samuel Cole Salon. They also teach orientation and core education classes for all new stylists. The intense four day Network Educator II curriculum enhanced their basic educator skill set to grow them to the next level of confident and intuitive educators.

“There is no better source of inspiration for a hairdresser and educator than coming to Bumble and bumble,” said Beard.

“It has been an amazing privilege to work with such a talented group of educators who are full of knowledge and passion. Being part of the Bumble and bumble network opens a giant door of continuing future possibilities that I am eagerly awaiting. Until then, I leave this session inspired and humbled by the amazing talent I always encounter at the house of Bumble,” said Smith.

Samuel Cole Salon is owned by the husband and wife team and veteran stylists, Jack and Joelle Ray. “We are thrilled that Sara and Jenny are continuing their NE training. May 20, 2013 (RALEIGH, NC) – Bumble & bumble educator, platform artist, and runway editorial artist, Alejandro Jimenez took center stage at Samuel Cole Salon to educate and inspire their design team. The razor cutting and styling class featured Bumble and bumble’s newest Surf Spray family of products release, Surf Foam Wash Shampoo and Surf Crème Rinse Conditioner. Designed to cleanse, hydrate and enhance natural texture, these new products are formulated with the same genius blend of body-enhancing minerals and sea botanticals as Surf Spray. Ideal for any hair type that needs a little beachy texture. Jimenez demonstrated several runway and editorial styling techniques, as well as razor cutting.

Jimenez has a long history as part of Bumble’s elite runway and creative team. He has worked on many fashion events, such as Victoria’s Secret’s Fashion Show. In addition, he serves as the Bumble Educator in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.

May 2013 (RALEIGH, NC) – Veronique Breault, one of Samuel Cole Salon’s talented stylists, recently entered Wella’s prestigious Trend Vision 2013 competition. Each year, top industry influencers prepare ideas and give great insight to emerging trends in fashion, color, and styling. These trends are Haute Couture Collections for inspiration and ready-to-wear looks for salons and their clients. This annual competition is an event that recognizes and rewards the next generation of talented stylists in the US and globally. Stylists submit photos of their interpretation of one of four of this year’s trends (Fusion, Decibel, Echo or Allegra). Each trend focuses on cutting-edge color, styling and design. Veronique entered under the Decibel trend spotlighting extremely vivid color contrasts with unexpected faded and washed-out pieces.

Samuel Cole Salon Hosts Advanced MAC Makeup Class

April 15, 2013 (RALEIGH, NC) – Samuel Cole Salon hosted an advanced MAC Makeup class featuring MAC Cosmetics artists, Krystal Lehman and India Jones. Krystal and India taught the stylists the latest looks from MAC’s 2013 Trend Vision. These talented artists shared their expertise on how to create flawless skin, a beautiful bronze glow, and the power of a bright pop of color on the lips. Each stylist recreated the amazing looks on their models. The techniques provided the stylists with even more options for their clients, especially with the prom and wedding seasons in full swing.
