Spring Trend Vision 2015 with Wella Design Team Educator Anna Vaul

Owner of Studio 520 Salon and Spa and Stylist Anna Vaul was on site to demonstrate Wella’s newest line of color Freelights Instamat!c by Color Touch. Anna has been in the beauty industry for over fifteen years. Her career spans stage, television, and print. Anna’s extensive education and talents led to her position on The Wella Design Team. Color Touch Instamat!c technology is formulated with a fine blend of color molecules that is diffused gradually into the hair cuticles. The result is a demi-permanent, delicate matte gloss, muted shine, on-trend finish. The five hour advanced color workshop focused on the art of hair painting and matte, pastel tones. After Anna’s live model demonstration, Samuel Cole Salon stylist had the opportunity to create futuristic looks by using the Instamt!ic tones and glosses to create filtered effects and were able to demonstrate this new color technique on their own models.

Elite stylist Michael Knight just returned from the V76 Men’s Grooming Workshop in New York City. The workshop, led by V76 creator, Vaughn Acord, and V76 educators, Barry Hughes and Jason Hunt, focused on the complete salon visit for men, from cutting and styling to general grooming. The educators demonstrated several different looks, combining old-school barbering with up-to-date salon techniques.

Educators also focused on the history of men’s styling and the importance of catering to the male client in a unisex salon. The V76 team emphasized tailoring each cut and style to the individual, understanding which tools to use, what methods to employ, and how to give a proper consultation on the total look.

After a morning of presentations, Michael participated in a hands-on workshop with a male model to give him the cut, shape and style that best fit his face shape, hair texture, lifestyle and personality.

Working with Vaughn Acord was an amazing experience. Vaughn in as expert in the field of men’s grooming with clients including Bruce Springsteen, Bill Clinton, Bryan Ferry and many more. During the class we did an in-depth study of the history of trends and hairstyles that have influenced men’s grooming over the years. Vaughn’s enthusiasm was contagious and inspiring. We were able to work one on one with Vaughn picking out models and deciding what was the most appropriate look for them. V76 provided a top notch NYC photographer to shoot the final look from our models for submission to industry trade magazines. The day was filled with many surprises and incredible challenges and I am so looking forward to working with Vaughn Acord again in the near future.”, said Michael Knight.

Samuel Cole Salon has teamed up with the Vs. Cancer Foundation to help children battling cancer right in our own community! In joining forces with Duke Children’s Hospital and NC Children’s Hospital, we asked how we could help these kids in their treatment, the overwhelming response…

Any toys that can played with in bed, infant mobiles (hangs over a crib), doctor play kits, craft kits/isolation activities, clothes, matchbox cars, children’s DVDs, and of course cash.

Starting now and until March 31st, we are hosting a drive for these toys to be given directly to children battling cancer as we speak. On your next visit to Samuel Cole, we invite you to bring in any of the items listed above to help make chemotherapy, radiation, and other treatments a little easier to bear. Samuel Cole Salon Stylists Give Back

Samuel Cole Salon stylists with gifts prepared for the Raleigh Rescue Mission

The Raleigh Rescue Mission was founded to minister to the growing needs of homeless and hurting men, women and children in our community. They have helped more than 750,000 people since being funded in 1961. The Raleigh Rescue Mission offers a long-term recovery program, emergency shelter, safe housing, clothing, and three healthy meals a day, as well as recovery, counseling, free medical care, job and computer training skills, and other support services to help them achieve their goals and ultimately make a successful transition back into the community.

Samuel Cole Salon made it their mission to contribute this holiday season. Employees pitched in and collected $700 for The Raleigh Rescue Mission. With the amount of money collected Samuel Cole was able to buy 23 much needed gifts; newborn and toddler clothing, rattles, pacifiers, toys, bibles, sweaters, shirts, nightgowns, pajamas sets, robes, jeans, a Regal Movie Theater gift card and a Wal-Mart gift card.

Wella Trend Vision Award Winner Mark Debolt Shares His Color Genius

Two time winner of Wella Professional’s International Trend Vision Award, Mark DeBolt was on-hand at Samuel Cole Salon to share this years Fall and Winter color trends. Mark’s passion for styling is met only by his love for inspiring and furthering the careers of other stylists. Mark is constantly aspiring to craft and create beauty through the art of professional coloring and we were thrilled to be learning from the master himself.

This year’s trend class focused on the shape of the hair. Mark demonstrated different coloring techniques that incorporated the use of hair painting to shadow and lighten shapes in the hair in order to create contrast, ultimately challenging the texture and changing the appearance of the actual shape. After spending the afternoon with Mark, stylist were inspired to look at color in a whole new way.

Creating shadow and light challenges the anatomy of the shape by manipulating and diffusing the lines, creating new textures within the shape. Mark’s visit to our salon left stylist eager to experiment with new shapes, challenge the norm in textures, and show color through shadow and light.
